The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy concluded dramatically on Monday, July 04, as the visitors won just by six runs to level the five-match Test series 2-2. Needing just 35 runs to win with six wickets in hand, the hosts panicked and lost a match, which they should have won. India, which fought right through the five Tests, deservedly ended the series on parity. However, while the series is named after two iconic cricketers, neither Anderson nor Tendulkar was seen during the trophy presentation.
The fans at Kennington Oval were left disappointed by not seeing two icons during the trophy presentation. Before the series was renamed, the Trophy was called the Pataudi Series. The ECB decided to change the name to Anderson, the highest wicket taker for England & Tendulkar, the highest run-scorer in Tests. ECB also decided to give the Pataudi medal to the winners. However, none of the members were present at the presentation ceremony at the Oval.

This sparked a debate on social media, where the fans criticized the ECB for their failure to give Anderson, Tendulkar, & the Pataudi family members the honor they truly deserve.
Fans not impressed with ECB snub of Tendulkar, Anderson & Pataudi family members
Notably, just before the start of the five-match Test series, the ECB decided to change the Pataudi Trophy, which led to plenty of criticism from experts and fans. The board was even asked to invite a few members from the Pataudi family and honor them before the start of the series. However, nothing happened. Few thought the ECB would invite them before the conclusion of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy; however, that also did not happen, as the series was played without the presence of the Pataudi family members.
