Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finished their innings at 166 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) at the Ekana Stadium on Monday.
The IPL 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings saw the home side batting first after the latter chose to chase, banking on dew aiding them later.Â
LSG sent out Aiden Markram (6 runs off 6 balls) and Mitchell Marsh (30 runs off 25 balls) to start, but trouble hit early. In the first over over, Khaleel Ahmed snagged Markram for six runs, caught by Rahul Tripathi after a skewed shot popped to cover.
Nicholas Pooran (8 runs off 9 balls) stepped in, and alongside Marsh, they aimed to steady the ship against tight spells from Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel. Pooran got a fortunate boundary off a wild pull, but runs were scarce.
By the fourth over, LSG slumped to 27/2, as Pooran fell LBW to Kamboj after CSK took a review, ushering Rishabh Pant (63 runs off 49 balls) to the crease.Â
LSG found some footing through Marsh and Pant, though scoring stayed modest. Ravindra Jadeja shook things up, nabbing Marsh for 30 runs. The Aussie got cleaned up in the 10th over, leaving the Super Giants at 73 runs for the fall of three wickets.
Ayush Badoni (22 runs off 17 balls) took the attack to Jamie Overton in the 12th over, tonking two consecutive sixes. He was given out twice by the on-field umpire but in what was a lucky night for him, he survived somehow. Eventually, Jadeja bamboozled him in the 14th over with Dhoni inflicting a stumping.
Pant started off well but slowed down as the innings progressed. He smashed Matheesha Pathirana for two sixes six in the 18th over to again give his knock the impetus it needed. The southpaw also brought up his maiden half-century for LSG in 42 balls.
The LSG captain continued to tee off along with Abdul Samad (20 runs off 11 balls) as the duo collected two more maximums in the 19th over off Khaleel's bowling.
Dhoni hit a bulls eye in the 20th over and ran out Samad. Pant perished on the following delivery off Pathirana. The Sri Lankan took another wicket on the final ball in the form of Shardul Thakur (6 runs off 4 balls) as LSG ended at 166 runs for the fall of seven wickets.
