The fifth and final Test match had a dramatic end as India won the Test match by six runs and levelled the series 2-2. England needed 35 runs to win while India needed four wickets to win the Test match.
At last, it was India who held onto their nerves and eked out a win out of nowhere to level the series 2-2. This series will be remembered for being the way it was and it was one of the most closely contested series India played in recent times.
With 35 runs to win, Jamie Overton started by hitting a four off the very first over of the day. That brought down the equation to 31 runs to get for England. Meanwhile, Jamie Smith ( 2 runs off 20 balls) was the first wicket to fall on the day for England as he edged one straight to Dhruv Jurel.

India Win At The Oval, Levels Series 2-2
No surprise, it was Mohammed Siraj who started the proceedings for India. Siraj then struck in his very next over as he found Overton plumb in front of the wicket. The decision was upheld by umpire Ahsan Raza. England took the DRS, but the on-field decision stood.
With Overton gone, England still needed 20 runs to win. It was Gus Atkinson ( 17 runs off 29 balls) who took matters into his own hands and hit a few boundaries. England then lost Josh Tongue on the score of 357 runs. He was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna, who ended with four wickets in the match, giving away 126 runs. England still needed 17 runs to win when Chris Woakes came onto bat with a strapped shoulder.
It was now with Atkinson to take England home. The pacer scored 10 more runs before Siraj dismissed him in the 86th over of the innings and bowling England out for 367 runs. India won the match by just six runs as Siraj ended with five wickets for 104 runs. He eventually ended the series with 23 wickets, including two fifers. Josh Tongue finished with 19 wickets for England as the series ended 2-2.

Siraj Named Player Of The Match, Brook Player Of The Series
Siraj deservedly won the Man of the Match award for bowling his heart out for the Indian team when they had their backs to the wall. India managed to get their four wickets for just 28 runs as the fate of the series was decided in the first hour of the first session on day 5. Harry Brook was named the Player Of The Series for his aggressive style of batting. He finished the series with 481 runs in the series at an average of 53.44 with two hundreds and two fifties.
