Yashasvi Jaiswal missed a well-deserved century on day 1 of the second Test at Edgbaston. He scored 87 runs off 107 deliveries and missed out on a century by just 13 runs.
Jaiswal added a 66-run stand for the third wicket as Ben Stokes accounted for his wicket just after the lunch break. The southpaw looked assured till the time he was dismissed.
Jaiswal looked disappointed and waited and checked his shot before eventually walking back to the pavilion. Stokes bowled around the wicket and bowled outside the off-stump.

Doesn't Miss Scoring Opportunities - Cheteshwar Pujara On Yashasvi Jaiswal
Jaiswal seeing an opportunity went for an expansive cut and nicked it to the keeper Jamie Smith. Stokes' celebrations after the wicket was an evidence that he had planned the wicket.
After the day's play, veteran Indian Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara who is part of the commentary team with Sony Sports explained Jaiswal's dismissal and also spoke about his weakness.
"You've got to bowl the right length -around off-stump, on a good length. Keep doing that and wait for him to make a mistake," Pujara told the broadcasters after the day's play.
The senior Indian batter further praised Yashasvi Jaiswal's innings saying that he settled onto his innings after initially looking a bit rusty. Pujara further hailed Jaiswal for adjusting to the pitch and the conditions.
"Early on, it seemed like he was trying too hard to play shots, but once he settled, the kind of strokes he played were outstanding. Once he gets through that initial half-hour, he's in complete control. He doesn't miss scoring opportunities, and that makes it very difficult for a bowling team," Pujara said.
"If you pitch it up, he drives well. If it's short outside off-stump, he cuts well. If you try bumpers, he pulls confidently. The margin of error for bowlers is incredibly small against him," Pujara added.
Jaiswal fell just 10 short of getting past 2000 runs in Test cricket and becoming the youngest to do so. India finished day 1 on 310 runs for five wickets.

India Target 500 On Day 2
India began day two strongly with Shubman Gill going past 150 runs and his partnership with Ravindra Jadeja (89 off 137 balls) ended at 203 runs off 279 deliveries. Meanwhile, the England bowlers are trying their best to break the partnership. India, on the other hand, are targeting close to 550.
