Cheteshwar Pujara's Statement On His Retirement

He took his official Twitter handle to announce his retirement. It was an emotional post one that was filled with a lot of gratitude and one that marks an end to his 14-year-old international career for India.

"Wearing the Indian jersey, singing the anthem, and trying my best each time I stepped on the field - it's impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket," he said in a post on X.

He was very much the backbone of India’s batting order at number three. He was part of two Test series wins in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21. Pujara had a crucial role in both those Test series wins for India. At home, he scored 3839 of his total Test tally, averaging 52.58.
